The 2024 Election is Decided: Americans Voted for Free Markets Principles
Nov 7, 2024
Last night’s General Election results reaffirmed Americans’ support for protecting the policies that have made this country economically successful.
It is no surprise that exit polls showed the economy is the number one issue facing the country. With the economy top of mind, Americans voted for free market principles, limited government interference and increased competition. These are the principles that make for a stronger American economy that benefits businesses, their employees, and their families.
When the government interferes in the free market, hardworking families and job creators pay the price, and it sets a dangerous precedent that Americans decidedly voted against.
We saw a preview of this shortly before the election, when a recent public opinion poll from AFFM member Centerline Liberties showed voters are concerned over misguided policies that weaponize legislation to score political points, whether they are proposed and driven by Democrats or Republicans. Instead, American voters want to see sensible policies that promote economic growth, competition and innovation which in turn lower the burden on taxpayers.
At both the state and federal levels, lawmakers from across the political spectrum should take note of this week’s election outcome and stand firm with the American people against onerous government overreach that stunts economic growth.
We hope the new Administration, Congress and state legislatures will listen to the American people and avoid misguided policies that micromanage businesses’ decisions and instead promote principles that let the free market thrive through robust competition that will drive even more economic prosperity in communities across the nation.
